UNI 8 O-H

The Uni 8™ Overhead Horizontal Lifeline System is a unique fall protection safety product. It offers both fall arrest and restraint capabilities using a 1 x 19 8mm stainless steel cable, which is secured to a structure using a range of anchorage fittings.
The two wheeled attachment carriages are secured to the system during installation and when in use move over the intermediate brackets without interruption. It is a true hands-free system. The horizontal lifeline system has a minimum breaking strength of 38 kN and can span up to 30 metres between intermediate supports. This is achieved through high pre-tension loading in the cable of 5kN combined with the properties of the 1 x 19 8mm cable. A complete range of structural end anchors are available to enable the horizontal lifeline system to integrate with the structure. The Uni 8™ Overhead Horizontal Lifeline is designed to provide a facility to enable safe working at heights in accordance with current regulations and safe access to a variety of otherwise dangerous situations, or to restrain personnel from putting themselves at risk. There are two types of horizontal lifeline.
The Uni 8™ Overhead Horizontal Lifeline System consists of a horizontally mounted lifeline that spans the work area and is fixed at either end to the structure via anchorage connectors. The horizontal lifeline may be supported at regular intervals by intermediate brackets. The intermediate brackets help to reduce the loads in the event of a fall, limit cable deflections and allow for longer single installations. The Uni 8™ Overhead horizontal Lifeline System is only suitable for mounting 1.6m or more above the work area or walking surface and does not navigate corners or changes in direction. In order to ensure best performance of the horizontal lifeline system, it should be installed so that it is completely level.
Key Features and Benefits
- Free running attachment carriage ensures complete freedom of travel and therefore ease of movement for the user
- Sealed bearings in the carriage wheels reduce the need for maintenance and contribute to reduced costs of ownership
- High tensioned stainless steel cable supports heavy fall arrest devices when required, making it suitable for use in high structural situations
- Reduced cable deflections make the horizontal lifeline system suitable in areas of where there is minimal ground clearance, increasing the potential for use
- In line energy absorbers reduce load transfer to the structure in the event of a fall, which would otherwise be too high in some cases
- Available as a single or multi-span horizontal lifeline system and therefore suited to long span structural situations. Electro-polished components provide long term corrosion resistance
- Uni 8™ System software calculates system performance to ensure all horizontal lifeline system designs meet customer needs and are safe
- Supports multiple workers up to 140kg, where most products in the market are only rated for 100kg
- Tested to EN795 class C and CE Marked and meets the requirements of AS/NZS, OSHA, ANSI and CSA for horizontal lifelines
- Capital Safety’s tecnhcial support team can provide design and installation of supporting steel structure, thereby delivering a turnkey solution
UNI 16

The Uni 16™ fall protection system is best suited to specialist fall protection situations and to installation on older structures where connection to steelwork, brickwork or concrete is necessary and where a reduction in structural penetrations is desirable. The fall protection system is also very suitable for industrial safety applications and working at height.
In many circumstances, the product can span from 25 to 50m between support brackets. Uni 16™ offers excellent functionality through it’s free flowing bypass capability and can navigate corners and contours in building designs. Systems with corners will require shorter spans.
Minimal moving parts, the properties of the cable and high grade materials ensure long life expectancy, low cost of ownership and add up to a sound investment.
The fall protection system can be fitted to steel beams, concrete, brickwork and a variety of roof constructions using rigid anchors. The fall protection system can also support multiple workers for both fall arrest and fall restraint work applications. Detailed information to ensure safe system design and integration is provided by our comprehensive horizontal systems software programme.
The Uni 16™ Fall Protection System was the first permanent ‘engineered’ synthetic lifeline system to offer pass through components, corners and real user benefits, and at last count has seen installations of over 350,000 metres of systems.
The product continues to take pride of place in the Capital Safety product range today and due to its unique properties solves some of the most demanding and complex fall protection problems in the world. To this day, it is still the only globally recognised permanent synthetic lifeline product and is unrivalled in the fall protection industry for its unique benefits.

UNIRAIL

The UniRail™ product is best suited to modern building projects, in particular for internal and external façade access, inspection and maintenance including walkways and suspended gantries. The product has also been used extensively for suspended access work by rope access technicians, as it meets the requirements of both abseil and fall protection standards.
In addition it is very effective in industrial height safety applications, where limited ground clearance or narrow walkways would adversely affect user safety considerations, or where significant distance between the working platform and the anchorage system would affect functionality.
Alongside facade access, the UniRail™ System should also be considered for small fall arrest safety installations as loading of the structure in the event of a fall is low due to the products fixing specifications and it can be very cost effective compared to other solutions, such as cable.
The product is a quality extruded aluminium rail system, which provides a high level of user safety combined with an aesthetically pleasing appearance. In typical circumstances, the product can span up to 3m between support brackets (perfect for facade access) using a range of anchorage brackets which adapt to site conditions. Furthermore UniRail™ offers excellent functionality through its free flowing attachment carriage and with no brackets to pass over, the users experience with the system is truly hands free. The facade access system is also capable of navigating corners and contours in the building or structure to provide complete design flexibility.
Minimal moving parts and high-grade materials ensure long life expectancy, low cost of ownership and add up to a sound investment.
The system can be fitted to steel beams, concrete and brickwork for facade access. The system can also support multiple workers for both fall arrest and fall restraint work applications – ideal for facade access.
